MISSION & HISTORY.

Honey Creek Community School (HCCS) is a K-8, public charter school located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Honey Creek was founded in 1995 to fulfill a vision of project-based learning in small, multi-age classes led by dynamic teachers. The Honey Creek approach differentiates both curriculum and instruction to yield high outcomes among all learners.

Students come to Honey Creek from throughout Washtenaw County, creating a unique and dynamic level of geographic diversity within the student body. We share a building and a close partnership with High Point, whom offers programming for students with severe cognitive and multiple impairments. For almost 20 years, our school has excelled!

During Honey Creek’s most recent charter re-authorization conducted by Hanover research, Honey Creek maintains “a dedication to innovative, evidence-based curricular and instructional practices unseen in the traditional school setting [and] demonstrates that the spirit of innovation that sparked the charter school movement is alive and well in Honey Creek”.  Honey Creek Community School graduates are creative thinkers and complex problem solvers. These abilities are evident in the quality of the projects the students create and these abilities are validated through standard assessments.

Creating opportunities for all students to achieve their greatest potential requires consistent, higher levels of funding which are not presently being supported by the state. By supporting The Honey Creek Community School Foundation, you will support the development of creative problem solvers who are prepared to lead through future challenges, and contribute to the overall well-being of the community.
