Honey Creek Community School Turns 30!

This is kind of a big year for Honey Creek Community School — our 30th anniversary! To celebrate three decades of progressive community education, the Honey Creek Community School Foundation is co-planning a special celebration on Friday, May 17. 

To celebrate 30 years, we’re launching a $30,000 fundraising campaign, and we need your help to reach our goal. Every gift, big or small, helps us ensure that future Phoenixes have access to these incredible opportunities.

We’re inviting current families, alumni, staff (past and present), and all Honey Creek friends to join us as we reflect, honor, and look ahead with hope and gratitude. Our celebration will center around six exciting themes:

Founders

We’ll take a moment to honor the visionary founders who dreamed big and built something special. Their commitment to progressive education laid the foundation for everything Honey Creek is today. Come learn more about the early days of the school and help us express our deep gratitude.

Funders

Thanks to generous donations, the Honey Creek Foundation has been able to support programs that enrich the student experience—like tutoring, after-school programming, class pets, field trips, Earth Day events, and scholarships.

Forever Phoenix

Once a Phoenix, always a Phoenix! We’re reaching out to alumni to reconnect, share memories, and celebrate how Honey Creek has shaped lives far beyond the classroom. Are you a Forever Phoenix? We’d love to hear your story—and we hope you’ll come home to celebrate with us.

Fun

You won’t want to miss our collaborative Phoenix Wings Art Project—a vibrant, community-made mural where guests can snap photos and leave their mark. It’s a joyful symbol of how our school lifts students up and gives them the wings to fly.

Food

Come hungry! We’re bringing in a variety of local food trucks to serve up delicious bites. It’s a perfect chance to gather, mingle, and celebrate over great food.

Flame

This spring, we’re also honoring three beloved educators—Liz, Cheryl, and Cindy—who have retired or are retiring from Honey Creek. These amazing teachers have lit the spark of curiosity and learning for countless students. Let’s celebrate their legacy together.
